If you’re looking for a picturesque day of offroading amidst tall cliffs and geological formations, then Red Rock Canyon is the spot. Located off highway 14 north of Mojave, California, Red Rock Canyon State Park offers camping, offroading, hiking and spectacular views.A couple years ago we met up with a Wrangler Forum group to explore Last Chance Canyon and Nightmare Gulch, and then camped for one night at Ricardo Campground. Did I mention it was the hottest day of the summer? Luckily our air conditioning in the Jeep was ice cold that day, but camping out at night was miserable. I think it even rained on us, but that only seemed to make it humid and even hotter!Ricardo Campground is first come, first served. It has pit toilets, potable water, no RV hookups.
Tight corners and low ledges in Nightmare Gulch.
Jeeps are just the right size!
